via IFTTT Easter Week: Why is this important? Jesus Himself declared that he ONLY sign He would give us that He is the messiah is the sign of Jonah, three days and three nights in the grave. When we allow tradition to reverse truth in this matter, we destroy the proof of Jesus as the Saviour. Matthew 12:39-40 King James Version (KJV) 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, not Friday. He rose on Sunday just before sunrise. That accounts for three full days and nights in the grave. This is easily supported by scripture.
