via IFTTT What do you see? What your eyes see will make or break you! Peter was walking on water. He had already stepped out of the boat. He had already made his way mostly to Jesus. What a fascinating miracle! Peter was walking on the water that he had fished in all his life! As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. But at some point, his eyes drifted from Jesus to the world. He saw the wind and waves. He saw the event is on of the Savior. And he started sinking. Interesting that it was not the fact that he was standing in water that scared him. It was the storm. Consider that for a moment. It was the storm. Often in life we are called to do seemingly impossible things. Miracles happen only when there is no way, no possibilities. Peter's miracle was walking on water as if it were sand. Yet it wasn't fear of the miracle failing that got to him, it was the storm... The regular stuff off life that existed before the miracle. The way to overcome the stuff off life that beats against us, is simple but hard. Keep our eyes on Jesus. Faith abounds when our eyes see only Him. When we start to contemplate the danger, the battle itself, the storm... Our eyes no longer see Jesus but danger. And that breeds fear, and fear destroys faith. Has Jesus called you to walk on water? If so, keep your eyes on him. Forget the storm. Focus on Him, the scriptures, prayer, the still small voice inside. The storm rages, yells, screams at you but a faithful servant listens past the loud storm into the stillness. Quiet solitude with Jesus. Do not focus on the things, focus on the person. Do not focus on the work, but the reason. Do not focus on the outcome, but the path. See Jesus in your daily walk, even hourly! Don't let Satan tempt you to see those waves or wind. Resist! Ask God to grant you blinders to only see Jesus. The storm will be there whether you are in the boat or walking in the water. Forget the storm. It means nothing. Just focus on coming to Jesus.

via IFTTT They don't need to go elsewhere... You feed them. Wow! That is truly an earthshattering command and revelation! Think for a sec, what Jesus is saying! You can feed them. You! Our day is overwhelmed with the notion that we must seek educated professional experts for everything. We have experts all around us to guide is in every aspect of life. People we rely on to guide us in truth. Doctors, phsychologists, professors, nutritionists, preachers, teachers, ... The list goes on and on. For any aspect of life we are told to turn to someone else to seek help. But Jesus says "you feed them". If you are walking in the daily light of Christ, hearing from heaven, seeking His will over our own, keeping ourselves from the world as saints of a holy God, filled always with His goodness and glory, then.. and only then... YOU can feed them! You have the answer. Inside you is the wisdom and knowledge of the universe. Why would you need to turn to an expert, educated in the ways of man? What does he know that God doesn't? You see, the Christian Life is not a life filled with phone numbers of experts, running here or there to find our way. No! Jesus empowers us to know and to serve anyone, anywhere, anytime... As long as we are walking with HIM daily! Now, please understand. Be very careful. The disciples were WITH Jesus when he told them to feed the crowd. Are you WITH Jesus right now? That is a prerequisite! If your walking in your own desires and plans, trusting in your own wisdom and talents, then DO NOT DO THIS! You will fail. It's not you, it's HIM. You must be with Jesus to walk in His power. To know His wisdom and knowledge. But when you stay with Jesus, pray without ceasing, fast and seek His will, die to selfish ambitions, then you can feed God's sheep ! You can give a word of advice, healing, solution. You don't have to send a troubled friend to a doctor or a counselor, you have the answer. Where does wisdom come from? Why oh why is God's church using the ways of man to walk as God? Will education and training bring God's wisdom? How can we even think that man can replace God?!? Because... It started in the garden. Knowledge of good and evil, make your own choices, find your own way. Serve yourself. Be like God. No. A powerful church must reject the ways and reliance on man. A powerful free church must walk by the Spirit in humility and holiness. A powerful church can feed the sheep, as long as they stay with Jesus. Once again, it's all Him, and none of us. You can be used of God to do what the greatest expert on Earth can not do. If and only if, you walk with Jesus daily. Seek him, and all these things shall be added into you.

via IFTTT It is ok to mourne, to be sad over the things that happen in this life. Life is full of hard things. They hurt. Even Jesus experienced this reality. We should not be surprised to find periods of darkness in our lives. Jesus felt pain over the passing of John. They were kindred spirits, partners in a sense. They were close. Jesus felt the pain of loss, emptiness, sorrow. And what did He do? What should we do? Get alone with God the Father. There is no love like the love of a caring Father, no greater comfort. Jesus turned to this loving comfort in His time of grief. Alone, secluded, with God. Crowds of friends and family are a blessing, but they cannot touch the soul like hearing from heaven. Words of a friend are sweet cool water, but pale in comparison to words from our Creator. Time alone with God. That is where Jesus turned. And He is our example. When life hurts, run to Him. Pour your heart out, let Him fill the air we breathe with peace. Let Him comfort our heart. There is something special about the quiet of solitude. There is where our souls are fed. Distractions of this world hinder the full surrender of our hearts. Quiet solitude is the key. Are you hurting? Has life dealt you a crippling blow? Get alone in a quiet place and give God the opportunity to touch your heart. Trust Him. Turn to Him. He alone is the answer.

via IFTTT What are you worried about? What great thing in this life causes you anxiety? Why? God knows you, much better than you know yourself! He knows exactly how many hairs are on your head right now! Let that sink in... He knows! Is hair that important? Is there some hidden cosmic meaning here? No! Jesus is simply pointing our that the Father knows everything minute detail about you and your life. He knows you inside and out, even the stuff no one cares about. Even the stuff you do not care about. He knows. Because He cares about you so deeply. You are his pride and joy, His greatest creation. You. We don't have to go to God in prayer and inform Him of this or that. He already knows! We don't have to stress to Him how important that job is, or that relationship, or that health concern. He knew about it before you did. He knows! So wait, if God knows everything, why do we still suffer? Why doesn't He just fix everything so we can live blissfully happy. Why doesn't He do what we need? Yes, wait a minute! How dare we question God!? How dare we put the holy creator of the universe, who man rejected, as no more than a genie in a bottle. God is not here to serve man! Is man above God? No! That very notion of questioning God is purely from the pit of hell. It is that old serpent speaking again " has Good really said?" What disrespect to a holy loving Father! "Why doesn't He serve us as we want..". Really? How dare we ask that question! God is sovereign. We are his creation. What right do we have to question His motives, His actions, His heart, His abilities? We are the clay in the potters hands, molded and shaped into what He wants. He is rightfully and completely in charge! So relax! Trust! The God that is able, the God that knows, the God that created you also loves you so deeply He numbers the hairs on your head. You have nothing to fear. Nothing. Ever. Well, that is, as long as we leave Him in charge of our day! Fear comes, anxiety comes when we take control, when we want, when we have our own plan... When we put ourselves above God. When we loose trust, when we try to take control, that's when we fear the future. Anxiety comes from our own selfishness and lack of trust. If we put ourselves in God's hands, what have we to fear? What is too great for God? What does He not know? Peace comes with pure submission to one more capable than ourselves. Peace come from trust in love. We suffer fear, anxiety, worry when we take back the reigns of life and suddenly realize that WE can't control the world. But God can! So please... step back, relax. Tell God you quit. You give full control to Him over your life. You will concentrate on hearing His voice, following His lead. Ask Him to build your faith. Ask Him to reveal His deep love. Commit to spend more time alone with Him than your own thoughts of the future. Commit to become a Christ Follower. A true follower... Follow. Yes, follow, not lead. Therein is the peace that passes all understanding. God loves you. He knows you. He waits for you. Say yes.

He is not saying to annoy your neighborhood. What He is saying is much more deep. Jesus' job, His main goal in life was His death. By living a perfect life and then dying in our place, He gave us something to shout about! The kingdom of heaven is truly at hand! His job was to make that possible. Our job, is to tell the world. Perhaps a roof isn't the best way to inform the world, but what then? How shall we do this call? There are many ways, everyone has one or more. Do you talk to people? What do you talk about? Life? Movies? Vacations? Troubles? Politics? Or.... Jesus? Do you use social media? What were your last ten posts about? Jokes? Cute pics? Your life? Funny videos? Or ... Jesus? You see, we today have a great blessing, a blessing never before bestowed on man. You can sit in your warm comfy home, and talk to the world! A hundred years ago the lowly printing press was king, it was the single most sought after tool to reach or control the world. The ability to mass produce printed materials was the power to change a nation. Men fought over and even killed to possess this great power. Today you hold in your hand something much greater than a printing press. A smartphone on the internet. You can reach dozens, hundreds, thousands, even millions of people almost instantly, anywhere is the world! Social media, blogs, YouTube, so many ways, most of them free! We live in a marvelous day. A day where the playing field is flat. Anyone can put information out there, all over the world. Now THAT is shouting from the housetops! But, wait. What do we use social media for? What do we share on the internet? If those that spent time hand copying letters for distribution to so few, had access to what we do today, what would they have done? Happy puppy pictures? Hardly! You have the power to fulfill this call now more than ever. Your gadget to connect to the internet is more powerful than you can imagine! You and I can reach the world, shout the gospel, fast, easy, worldwide! What awesome power and possibility! Do we utilize it to the fullest? When God looks through our online accounts, is He honored? Is He glorified? Can a stranger glance over and see Jesus on your posts? Profile? Pics? Videos? If not, why not? Only when we use all the available tools to their fullest can we claim to follow this command to shout. Only when we give it all to Jesus, even our online profile, can we be at peace with God. Shout the gospel, everywhere and anywhere. Live the gospel always, every minute of every day that is our job. God's timing has put in our hands what we need to teach this world. Let us not squander this opportunity. Go post something right now that will touch someone.. shout it from the housetops!

via IFTTT Shrewd as a serpent, innocent as a dove. This word shrewd, wise, however translated, means (in original language) to be practically wise, prudent, careful. It's the notion of one's inner mindset controlling behaviour. Being watchful and meticulous in actions consistent with the heart. ALWAYS. No exceptions! Life isn't happy go lucky. We can't just float around doing whatever we like, whenever we want, saying whatever pops into our head in the moment. No! Life is to be calculated, every moment used to the fullest, not wasted on frivility. There are too few moments granted each of us to waste even one. Scripture warns that we will be held accountable for EVERY idle word we speak. Every single word for our entire adult life. Every joke, every exaggeration, every act of silliness. That is a sobering thought! Why? Because we are constantly surrounded by wolves seeking to destroy us. We must be forever vigilant and watchful. Don't give Satan an opportunity to get a foot in the door through a careless thought , deed, or word. How many sins, how much suffering has been launched with an idle, careless word? The serpent is shrewd, always sneaking through the world silently, fully aware of the unsuspecting surroundings. Never letting his guard down. But he does this for personal reasons! The serpent serves himself, by attacking others when possible. Exalting himself at the expense of others, feeding himself on the misfortune of others. You see, it matters WHY we do things, that is the second half, innocent as a dove. Ever see a dove attack anyone? No! They do not feed on the suffering of others as the snake, instead doves live off the generosity of others. They survive through the goodness of their surroundings. Jesus is warning us to be diligent in all we do and say, but for the purpose of helping others, not serving ourselves. We are to forever be gentle, soft, loving, thoughtful, kind, service minded but in doing so be diligently wise about how that is done, where, how we express things. Should we say this or that... It matters! We can't just blurt out our thoughts willy nilly. We must consider what is God saying, what would Jesus do. Will you accept this challenge? For the next week, before every word spoken in every situation, pause first and ask "what would Jesus say?" or "what would Jesus do?" . Search for that answer BEFORE you speak. Do not utter a single word, not even one, not even a "hello" without first aligning that word with the Father's thought. Extreme? No... Jesus did just that by his own admission, and here He commands us to do the same. It only seems extreme to the extent we are currently failing to follow his example. How do we know what the Father would say and do? Jesus knew because He spent every idle moment in prayer, spending time with His Father. You must BE with someone to know them. To know God's heart, be with God. Not weekly, but daily! Always! Pray without ceasing. Got 5 minutes alone? How will you use them? Wise as serpents, gentle as doves. Always.

via IFTTT Why do you suppose Jesus said to stay in a personal home, not a hotel? There were plenty of hotels all through the land. Not Hilton's, no... But inns for hire. This want for lack of availability. Jesus purposefully told the disciples to visit people and stay in their homes to reach a city. There must be a reason that He was so specific. Perhaps there was a deep reason. People. It's all about people. Not the people serving, but those served. Those hurting and needy. It's about the best way to reach them. What better way to understand the community you enter than to live with the people? "Seek out he who is worthy", because that person has the pulse of the community. They know everyone, they know who is sincere, who is hungry. The worthy person has been praying for each. By staying with that worthy persons family, the traveling evangelist is most capable of reaching the community. Not in a weekend revival, but long term! The"evangelist" comes and goes, but those worthy people are embedded within the community for the Long haul. They are part of it. The worthy people are who will be ministry to the hurt souls long after the evangelist moves on. It is the good people living in the community that do the work day to day! It is you. Jesus sent the evangelist to minister to you, so that you could spend your life, your days, portraying Christ to your community. The evangelist doesn't come with a flood light to glare across the community, he comes to light a candle in a worthy persons heart. A community is not won by a strong dynamic preacher that attracts huge crowds. A community is won for Christ through the tireless lives of regular but worthy people shining the light of Christ day by day. As a young boy, I watched many a traveling preacher come through our home. They came and dazzled the church and the masses with flowery speech and inspiring stories. All good stuff! But... It was my dad, just the local guy, that visited the sick and lonely. He spent nighttime hour after nighttime hour pleading truth with individuals. He stood between enemies in a broken family to mend them. He held the hand of the dying. He prayed with the hurting day after day. It is the local quiet worker that illuminates the community for Christ in the long run. You can be that worthy person. You can change your community. You can be the light of Christ seen by those you care about the most. All you need to do is listen, live, do. Be the worthy one in your community that God honors. Jesus was one. Disciples were twelve. It's not in the numbers, it's in the heart.

via IFTTT It is all to easy to reduce the gospel to so many good words. But it is not only words, it is power. Real power. Evidence of the truth of the words. Jesus instruction here to the disciples may seem mind boggling. Think about it, he is telling these men to go and raise the dead! Not figuratively, but literally! Some would explain this away by claiming it speaks of dead souls brought to the life of Christ, but if you make this phrase symbolic instead of literal, what of the others. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons... Do we change all this to symbolic? Hardly. Jesus did all these things himself. He obviously had the authority. He gave his own authority to the disciples. So he logically expected them to do what he himself did. This gospel is a gospel of power. Not just words, but deeds impossible for man to accomplish. Miracles by the name of Jesus. This power is real, just as real today as back then. Where in scripture does it speak of God rescinding this authority? Is Jesus name no longer authority over sickness and demons? He said "I am the same yesterday, today, and forever". You and I walk in that same authority as disciples of Christ, today. Why don't we see more miracles in the lives of modern Christians? I think there are a few reasons. 1. Most don't know they have this authority. You can not spend money in a checking account if you don't carry the checks and use them. 2. Today's typical church member is more concerned with their own comfort, success, pleasure than God's kingdom. God will not bless selfish motives. 3. Faith is lacking. Often Jesus said that the miracle required faith, trust in God. If we trust someone or something over God, he can not work the miracle or someone else gets credit thereby leading us astray. 4. People tend to seek signs and miracles more than righteousness, and lose authority by mis- using the authority. The scripture says to seek God and his righteousness first. Then all things will be added. This speaks of a pure heart, truly desiring God's presence over all else. Yet god does in fact work miracles at the hands of his followers today. I have personally witnessed such miracles. Not one or two isolated events, but in a daily basis. It is real. I have also witnessed the removal of this authority when the miracles become more important than the message, than the miracle worker. Jesus healed out of compassion for the hurting, but every healing was accompanied with a message, "go and sin no more". When we seek physical healing or prosperity above righteousness, we will not see that healing. In the old testament stories, they knew God "could" deliver them, but choose to follow him whether God did or didn't. That's the key... Stay focused on His will and glory. Touch others out of compassion for the hurting And God will honor the authority over death and sickness. God wants to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out the demons that torment us, but more importantly He wants to see our hearts set right. He will not allow his power to be a stumbling block to us, to cause pride, selfishness, to focus on this world. He is looking for those filled with quiet compassion, faith, desire to glorify God in all things, reject sin in all forms. To these He gives authority to touch the hurting and heal. The message here? The gospel is truth and power. But that power comes through the truth and pure motives. Seek the truth, the pureness, and God will grant the power of the Gospel.

via IFTTT What a powerful message! The kingdom of heaven is at hand. There may be no greater proclamation is all of human experience! What does that mean? EVERYTHING! When man first sinned, we lost direct access to God. Our sin banned us from the garden (heaven on Earth) and also banned us from being in God's presence. God is light, darkness can not exist in the light. We became darkness due to our sin, so we could not exist in God's presence. All the death, suffering, sickness, heartache stems from that simple truth. Life without our creator is full of pain and suffering. The only way to stop the pain and suffering is to return to God. But how if we can not be in his presence? Exactly! That is why this is such a powerful message! Now... We can! Heaven came to us! It is truly at hand! No, this world is not changed. It is still full of death and suffering. This world that we were put in charge of is still under the curse we caused. BUT, you and I, our hearts, our inner being, we are redeemed! Heaven came to us! God made a path for us to escape the death and suffering we caused! Our bodies live in this world, but our souls live in heaven. Not after we die... But NOW! Jesus died so that we might have life, abundant Life. Now, today. We aren't talking about riches, fame, pleasure, ease... No no no. None of that pointless worthless stuff. We are talking about living with our creator, every day! About His mighty presence, the very essence of God filling that hole we each have inside so that we explode with light and love! WOW, imaging that! So often we cheapen the message by talking about finances, health, pleasure, fun, ease, ... But the real treasure is heaven itself. The real gift is total and complete Peace within the storm! So much peace that you forget the storm is still raging! You become immune to all the wiles and attacks of Satan because you just don't care, you are so caught up in the beauty of heaven deep inside you that nothing of this life can hurt you! You see, Jesus doesn't protect us from the evils we caused in this world by building a wall around us. Instead he lights a fire within our souls that shines through any darkness. It is the light of Christ that protects us with a ring of light that no evil, no devil, no hurt can exist in. Because, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. It is here, now, today. And it is free. All you need to do is accept it. Your troubles do not go away, but the darkness of the troubles disappears! The joy and peace of heaven fills his children beyond belief, and the troubles no longer matter. Heaven, here, inside. That is an incredible message. An incredible promise. An incredible life.

Their health fails from stress. They bounce from point to point aimlessly seeking something they know not what. Just like humans. Most people feel lost and afraid if they must stand alone, make their own choice. They much prefer to decide WHO to follow, not what part to take. People want a leader, a strong respected leader. They want it so much that they would willingly be deceived by a strong leader rather than figure out their own path. Jesus saw the people stressed, lost, anxious. They had no leader, no one they could trust. Even the church had let them down. The leaders of the church were more worried and the rules, their own appearances, the finances, and the numbers them the people themselves. The people in the church were but a means to an end for the leaders. Much like today. Pastors worry about numbers, finances, tradition, appearances... And the flock wander around stressed and afraid with no true leader. They have no direction, no faith, no peace. Churches are filled with empty... Empty promises, empty lives, empty theology. The answer is the same today as it was back then... The answer is Jesus! Forget the things we tend to cling to and just cling to Jesus! Life isn't about the church, life is about serving God through Jesus. It's all him. So relax, Jesus is still here watching over you. It may not seem like it, but it's true. Perhaps one of the most painful social experiences is to be ridiculed, reduced to the brunt of a joke. It hurts deeply. It leaves scars on the heart. And that is exactly why Satan drives people to laugh at good, and those doing good. He throws his best at those who accomplish most. Don't fall to it! It is just a lie! Scripture after scripture speak of standing firm, standing in truth, perserverance, holding fast, resisting... Those that hold on to the end will be saved. We must rely on the strength of Jesus to do this. Jesus did not listen to the laughter. He knew what the Father wanted Him to do! He had a mission. And he just did it. The laughter didn't slow him down. That's the strength Jesus offers to you, strength to stand firm in the face of laughter and be confident in the mission God gave you. Not confident in your own power, your own strength, no! Confident in His ability to strengthen you! You see, it's all Jesus. Not us. We don't have to be strong, we just have to lean on Him. If we are called to do a job, then He will be faithful to empower us to complete that job no matter what. But only if we rely on Him and not our own talents and strength. If we try to do things on our own, if we feel capable, we will fail! How do we stand against peer pressure? How do we speak truth in the face of laughter? How do we walk the straight and narrow path when all voices call us aside? Simple, ""WE" don't! It's all Jesus... By his might, not ours. When you hear laughter, just turn to Jesus, let His strength be what carries you forward. Don't struggle... Submit to the peace only He can provide. That's how we can keep going without being hurt, hindered, crushed by the laughter. His strength brings His peace. And the laughter fades away.

The man in this scripture remains nameless, but we can be sure of 2 things. 1)his reward will be great in heaven and 2) he changed his world. All because he did what Jesus told him to do, share. He had a powerful story to tell, and he told it. A story like that can change lives, wake the sleeping, refute the doubts. But what of you and I? Do you have a story? YES! Everyone does. It may not "seem" as powerful, you may not feel like your story can change lives, but that my friend is a lie! Satan routinely minimizes good things specifically to prevent us from sharing. That is how important YOUR story is! Important enough for satan to work to stop it, stop you. Don't let him win! Have you been saved from the pit of hell by an amazing grace you did not deserve? Have you been blessed with food to eat?clean water? Clothes? Shelter? Family? Health? Have you been entrusted with children to raise? Do you have another day of breath to enjoy? Do you read the very words of Jesus and God and the prophets freely? What a story! Share it! Someone in your life, someone who crosses your path, needs to hear your story. They may be struggling with similar things and may be touched by your success and blessings. Others may be convicted by your words and change their life. Share! Don't worry about what to say. It's not about that. It's about speaking! Jesus did not say to go get educated, to go study how to speak, nothing but "go and share". Just do it as you are! Today! Look for opportunities to share with anyone in your path a smile, a word of encouragement, a word of blessing. Just share what God has given you. Spread the light. Be the light that the world sees. And leave the harvest to the Lord.
